You see two thick, black arcs pressed onto a white sheet—like tire tracks left in fresh snow. Serra made this print the same year he started his famous steel sculptures. He used a lithography stone, a heavy slab that holds ink like a sponge. The arcs feel heavy even though they’re just ink on paper. To see how he turned these same curves into towering metal walls, look up Richard Serra.
