About this work

This painting is just one solid black rectangle. The edges are slightly uneven, and the surface looks rough, almost like wet ink. Tiny specks of lighter color float near the center, but they’re hard to make out. It’s made by slapping ink onto paper and pressing it through a stone. The marks around the edges show where the paper got caught or the ink dripped. Next, check out how lithography works.
