About this work

This sketch shows a barefoot person sitting on a stool, facing sideways. Their legs are bent, feet turned out, and one arm rests on their knee. The other arm is raised, holding what looks like a limp, crumpled cloth or fabric. The background is mostly empty, with just a faint outline of a building or fence in the corner. The artist used simple pencil lines to capture the shape and weight of the body. The drawing feels quick, almost like a study rather than a finished piece. Check out *cross-hatching* to see how artists build shadows with layered lines.
