About this work

This drawing shows two odd figures against a plain background. One looks like a person in a hooded cloak, their face hidden. The other is a giant, helmeted head with a small figure riding on its shoulder, holding a tiny flag. The paper has a grid of faint lines, and the artist used ink and pencil for sharp, sketchy details. The figures seem mixed from different sources—maybe cut from old prints or comics. The helmeted head has a mechanical look, with gears or tools drawn on it. If you like this style, check out cross-hatching to see how artists build shadows with lines.
