Jean-Charles François was a French printmaker, copper engraver, and draftsperson active during the mid-eighteenth century. Born in 1717 and passing in 1769, he established a professional practice defined by collaboration and instruction within the printmaking community. His work included significant partnerships with artists Gilles Demarteau and Jean-Martial Frédou, through which he contributed to the production of engraved images. Beyond his own output, François played a role in shaping the next generation of practitioners by teaching Louis-Marin Bonnet.
