Eugen Pascu’s paintings feel like snapshots of afternoon light on forgotten walls, he preferred working in the quiet hours when the studio’s heat made the paint smell like summer. What sticks is how he turned simple scenes into little moods: a lone rider in Călărețul doesn’t gallop; he just sits there, patient, as if waiting for the day to cool. You’ll find him in the corner of Romanian modernist rooms, where the brushstrokes still breathe like they were laid down yesterday.
