Mattis Teutsch kept a tiny studio above a butcher shop in Brașov, where he painted shapes the way a jazz drummer thinks in riffs, sudden jabs of color, quick shifts in rhythm, all wedged between sausages and chops downstairs. He chased pure feeling over realistic scenes, stacking triangles and circles like notes in a silent score.
