Pedro de Madrazo was a Spanish painter and poet who lived from 1816 to 1898. Born into a distinguished artistic lineage, he was the child of the artist José de Madrazo y Agudo and the sibling of Federico de Madrazo y Kuntz and Luis de Madrazo. His education included studies under the artist Dionisio Fierros. Beyond his practice as a painter, Madrazo worked as a writer, politician, art historian, and art critic. His career reflected a deep engagement with the cultural and political life of Spain during the nineteenth century, extending the influence of his family's artistic legacy through multiple disciplines.
