C. Deblois
C. Deblois is an artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Victoria and Albert Museum.
This guy spent his mornings sketching dogs at the park near his Paris apartment, then disappeared into his studio to carve delicate woodblocks that somehow made those same dogs feel like they were about to bark. The prints have this uncanny mix of sharp lines and soft shadows that makes you squint to see if they really are just ink on paper. You know his work instantly from the Beard Collection, look for the one titled "Boulevard des Filles du Calvaire," where a stray poodle owns the whole scene like he paid rent.
