Louis-Robert Carrier-Belleuse was a French artist who lived from 1848 to 1913, working as a painter, sculptor, and ceramicist. Born into an artistic family, he was the child of the sculptor Albert-Ernest Carrier-Belleuse, who also served as his first teacher. He furthered his education under the guidance of Alexandre Cabanel and Gustave Boulanger. His career unfolded alongside his sibling, the artist Pierre Carrier-Belleuse. Through these formative relationships and his diverse practice, he contributed to the French art scene of his time, embodying the training and lineage of his era without departing from the documented scope of his professional life.
