Jacques Vaillant
Netherlands, 1643–1691
Jacques Vaillant was a Netherlands artist.
Jacques Vaillant was a Dutch painter active during the late seventeenth century, living from 1643 to 1691. He was born into an artistic family, serving as the sibling of both Wallerant Vaillant and Bernard Vaillant. His professional formation began under the guidance of his brother Wallerant, who also acted as his teacher. This mentorship established a foundation for his own career as a painter. Later in his life, Vaillant passed on his knowledge to the next generation by teaching the artist Simon Ruys. His work remains part of the Dutch artistic tradition of his time, connected through these documented familial and pedagogical relationships.
