David Teniers the Elder was a Habsburg Netherlands artist.

David Teniers the Elder was a Flemish painter and designer active in the Habsburg Netherlands from 1582 to 1649. He studied under the artist Adam Elsheimer before establishing his own practice. His artistic legacy continued through his family, as he was the parent of the artists Juliaen Teniers, Abraham Teniers, and David Teniers the Younger. In addition to his role as a father, he also taught his son David Teniers the Younger, passing on his skills and knowledge. These documented relationships highlight his influence within a prominent artistic lineage during the early seventeenth century.
