Muhammad Baqir
Zand Iran
Muhammad Baqir is a Zand Iran artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Museum of Fine Arts, Houston.
Muhammad Baqir seemed to live inside his sketchbook, always drawing on whatever scrap was handy, even the margins of his uncle’s ledgers. He had a habit of sketching roses so vivid you’d swear you smelled them. The twist is he never painted the nightingale; it’s just implied, a whisper of movement in the petals. Peek at Roses and Nightingale and you’ll see what he meant by “silent song.”
