Michiel van Huysum

Dutch Republic, 1703–1777

Michiel van Huysum was a Dutch Republic artist.

Michiel van Huysum was a Dutch painter and draftsperson active during the eighteenth century in the Dutch Republic. Born in 1703 and living until 1777, he emerged from a prominent artistic family. He was the child of the artist Justus van Huysum and the sibling of two other notable painters, Jacob and Jan van Huysum. His documented career encompasses work in both painting and drawing. This familial connection placed him within a significant lineage of Dutch artists, though his own professional activities are recorded simply as those of a painter and draftsperson during his lifetime.
