Charles Valton was a French sculptor who lived from 1851 to 1918. Before dedicating himself to sculpture, he worked as a teacher. His artistic training included study under the renowned animalier Antoine-Louis Barye. He also pursued further instruction with the sculptor Emmanuel Frémiet. These mentors shaped his development as an artist during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Valton's career reflects the influence of these established figures in the French art world. His life and work remain documented within the history of French sculpture from this period.
