Gabriel Briard was a French painter who lived from 1725 to 1777, known primarily as a landscape painter. His artistic formation occurred under the guidance of Charles-Joseph Natoire, whose instruction shaped his early development. Briard later assumed a significant role as an educator, teaching several notable artists who would go on to establish their own reputations. His students included Élisabeth Louise Vigée Le Brun, Jean-Louis de Marne, and Rosalie Filleul. Through this lineage of instruction, Briard contributed to the artistic community of his time while maintaining his own practice as a painter. His career spanned the mid-eighteenth century in France.
