Christian Vilhelm Nielsen was a Danish architect and painter who lived from 1833 to 1910 within the Kingdom of Denmark. His documented occupations included work as an architect, painter, and draftsperson. Beyond his own creative output, Nielsen played a significant role in art education by teaching several notable artists. His students included Carl Rasmussen, Frans Schwartz, Karl Jensen, Vilhelm Groth, Erik Henningsen, and Viggo Johansen. Through this instruction, he influenced a generation of Danish artists while maintaining his own practice in architecture and painting during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.
