She kept a rubber stamp of her own thumbprint in her desk drawer, ink it, press it on scrap paper, then scratch out the edges with a nail until the ridges blurred into something unreadable. That habit shows up in every piece: crisp letterpress words made fuzzy by accidental gouges, or tags stamped twice so the ink bleeds into a second set of letters. Look for her Untitled 1963 offset lithograph at the Met’s design corner; it’s the one where the word “LOVE” starts to melt before your eyes.
