George J. Stodart is an artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Victoria and Albert Museum.
This guy spent his days inking tiny, absurdly detailed prints of bears in waistcoats; he must’ve had a soft spot for polite ursine gentlemen. He left behind hundreds of hand-colored engravings that look like they belong in a Victorian joke book, all featuring bears sipping tea or playing cards. Hunt down The Gentleman Bear series, start with “Beard in a Bowtie” and see if you giggle.
