Kanō Masanobu

Kanō Masanobu was a Japanese painter who lived from 1434 to 1530. His career spanned nearly a century, during which he established a significant presence in the art world of his time. He is notably recognized for his role as the parent of the artist Kano Motonobu. Beyond his familial connection, Masanobu served as the teacher to Kano Motonobu, passing on his skills and artistic knowledge directly to his son. This mentorship helped shape the trajectory of the next generation of painters within the Kanō lineage, securing his legacy through both his own work and his influence on his student.
