Henry Augustus Ferguson was an American painter who lived from 1842 to 1911. Recognized for his work as a landscape painter, he also traveled extensively during his career. His artistic development included formal study under the artist George Henry Boughton. Ferguson further refined his practice through instruction from the artist Homer Dodge Martin. These educational experiences shaped his approach to painting within the united states. His life and work remain documented as part of the American art tradition of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.
