Greek photographer Thanasis Bardakas shoots Athens like a silent detective, catching stray cats mid-yawn and laundry flapping between balconies. He never titles the pictures, just numbers and years on the back, so every viewer becomes the first to name what they see. Slide into his 2009 untitled shot of a cat on a scooter seat; the bike’s mirror frames the animal exactly where the rider’s head should be. Suddenly you’re reading the city’s small print.
