Warren

Warren is an artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Victoria and Albert Museum.

Warren was a theater photographer who stalked backstage with a tripod instead of a script. He treated actors like sculptures, freezing their half-second poses between scenes, capturing the sweat, the wince, the moment before the applause. He left no dates, just a drawer full of glass plates that still smell like greasepaint and gaslight.

Slide open Guy Little Theatrical Photograph and you’ll see a clown mid-fall, his smile tipping sideways; that’s Warren’s trick, you feel the stage tilt with him.
