Johann Leonhard Raab was a German engraver and etcher who lived from 1825 to 1899 within the Kingdom of Bavaria. His professional life encompassed roles as a teacher and university teacher alongside his artistic practice in copper engraving and etching. Raab studied under the artist Samuel Amsler, a mentorship that informed his technical approach. He later passed his knowledge to future artists, including Karl Stauffer-Bern and Emil Orlik, whom he taught. Through these educational relationships and his own work, Raab contributed to the artistic community of his time as a practitioner and instructor.
