Robert Mason

Robert Mason made large charcoal drawings of European cities in the early 2000s. Study VII (Oporto) shows Porto’s granite riverfront and stacked houses in thick, smudged strokes that feel both ancient and fragile. His works sit between drawing and architectural study, using erasure and reworked lines to suggest time passing over stone. You can step into the scene through Oporto’s narrow Rua de São João.
