Jean Target carried a tiny sketchbook everywhere, filling margins with quick lines of Parisian rooftops and café corners. One afternoon he sketched a woman reading by a window so simply that the light looked alive on the page. Look for that drawing in the mid-century album Paris en Marge, it’s the one where the ink barely stays inside the lines but somehow holds the whole street.
