Gerda Quist
Gerda Quist is an artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Victoria and Albert Museum.
This Danish artist snapped photos in the 1950s with a Rolleiflex, the square-crop camera that fit in her coat pocket. She shot cobblestone alleys and iron bed frames in Copenhagen, letting the light do most of the talking. Look up Untitled (Photograph), it’s a 1953 frame where a laundry line’s shadow splits a brick wall almost exactly in half. That tiny moment is why her pictures still feel fresh.
