Her artistic education began under the guidance of her father, Alexandre-Marie Colin, who was also a celebrated artist. This familial connection continued into the next generation, as she became the parent of the artist Alexandre Louis Leloir. Colin's career spanned various visual disciplines, reflecting a deep engagement with drawing and image-making within nineteenth-century France. Her contributions remain documented through her diverse roles in the art world of her time.
