Gunnar Fredrik Berndtson

Gunnar Fredrik Berndtson is an artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Helsinki City Museum.

Gunnar Fredrik Berndtson kept a tiny sketchbook in his coat pocket, pulling it out whenever a soldier strolled past in 1880s Helsinki. He liked drawing them mid-stride, uniforms slightly rumpled, faces half-turned away. You can still see the habit in his colored pencil study of Lieutenant Thorsten Leonhard Lode, where the officer’s hand rests on his sword hilt like he’s about to step off the page.

Flip to the back of your Gallery Tiles deck and look for that exact drawing, it’s the one where the light catches the brass buttons just right.
