This Cypriot painter worked in the bright, spare light of Delphi for years, laying canvas after canvas in the same stone-paved courtyard. One day, without warning, he flipped his brush around and started painting with the handle, dragging lines like a blindfolded calligrapher. Why?
“The handle sees what the eye misses,” he’d mutter. Look up Delphi landscape I, notice how the olive trees read more like handwriting than foliage, and you’ll feel the shift from eye to elbow.
