Joseph Simon Volmar

Joseph Simon Volmar was a Swiss artist who lived from 1796 to 1865, known for his work as a painter, sculptor, and lithographer. He also served as a university teacher and specialized in animal painting. His artistic training included studies under Horace Vernet and Théodore Géricault, two prominent figures of the era. Born into an artistic family, he was the child of the artist Johann Georg Volmar. Throughout his career, Volmar worked across multiple disciplines, contributing to the visual arts through both painting and sculpture while sharing his knowledge as an educator.
