RE., FRIBA Captain Braxton Sinclair

RE., FRIBA Captain Braxton Sinclair is an artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Victoria and Albert Museum.

This retired naval officer kept painting long after his uniform came off, filling his studio with scenes of harbors at dawn. He had a knack for catching the exact slant of light on wet ropes and hulls, so the paint still looks damp today. If you like the salty smell of old boats, hunt down his watercolor titled Untitled from around 1920; it’s the one where the pier almost glows under a cloudy sky.
