Carl Joseph Begas was a Kingdom of Prussia artist.

Carl Joseph Begas was a painter and university teacher active within the Kingdom of Prussia during the nineteenth century. Born in 1794 and passing in 1854, he dedicated his life to the practice and instruction of art. His influence extended through his teaching, notably guiding the artist Clara Wilhelmine Oenicke, and through his family, as the parent of the artist Oscar Begas. As a German painter, his career reflected the artistic traditions of his time and place. His work and instruction contributed to the cultural landscape of Prussia, leaving a legacy carried forward by his students and his son.
