Yiannis Kapsidakis

Yiannis Kapsidakis is an artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Metropolitan Organisation of Museums of Visual Arts of Thessaloniki – MOMus.

Yiannis Kapsidakis used to set up his easel in the same Athens café every morning, sketching the same corner until the light changed. One day he painted a single apple so precisely it looked ready to roll off the table, except the stem was slightly crooked, as if someone had just taken a bite. Why that apple?

Because he wanted to prove that a still life could feel alive. If you like things that look quiet but aren’t, look up his 1997 “Still Life: Apple of Discord.”
