Ipolit Strâmbu

Ipolit Strâmbu was a Romanian painter who lived from 1871 to 1934. His artistic formation included studies under Theodor Aman and Carl Marr, grounding his practice in established traditions. Later in his career, Strâmbu assumed the role of educator, passing his knowledge to a new generation of artists. He taught Micaela Eleutheriade, Medi Wechsler Dinu, and Ion Theodorescu-Sion. Through these relationships, he influenced the development of Romanian art during the early twentieth century. His legacy remains defined by both his own work as a painter and his dedication to mentoring others within the field.
