This painting is mostly white. You see three faint, uneven shapes—like ghostly rectangles—painted in a very light gray. They’re stacked unevenly, almost like they were brushed on quickly or left unfinished. The artist used thin layers of paint, letting the wood show through in spots. It looks like the shapes might be buildings or windows, but they’re so pale they could be anything. Check out Gerd Leufert to see how he played with color and space in other works.
