This looks like a broken wooden box with two carved handles shaped like animals. The wood is light brown, worn in spots, and has some dark stains inside. A small paper label is tucked into one edge, and there’s handwritten text on the lid. The box seems to have been used for something important—maybe religious or ceremonial. The writing on the lid looks like numbers and letters, but it’s hard to read. If you want to see more like this, check out the Museum of Ethnography.
This Polish folk painter worked in the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries, creating religious scenes with bold colors and simple shapes.
