Untitled is a 1995 ink by Julia Jacquette, held at Museum of Modern Art.
This print shows four candy wrappers floating in a dark pool. Two are pink with swirls, one is green with stripes, and one is red with a zigzag. The colors pop against the black background like neon signs. Jacquette made this when she was 27. It feels playful, but also a little creepy—like eating candy that’s too sweet. She used screenprinting, a technique where ink is pushed through a stencil. Look up Julia Jacquette.
Julia Jacquette is an American artist primarily based in New York City and Amsterdam.
