About this work

This painting is all straight lines and flat colors. Two tall red bars frame a blue rectangle, which sits on a green base. A pink triangle cuts into the blue, and a thin white strip runs along the bottom edge. The lines are sharp, and the colors are bright but simple. The artist used a printmaking method called intaglio, where ink is pressed into grooves in a metal plate. This creates a distinct texture in the lines. Check out how the artist Julia Rommel uses this technique.
