About this work

This painting shows a simple table setup with a few objects. There’s a woven basket full of apples—red, yellow, and green—spilling slightly over the sides. Next to it, a pear and an orange sit on a crumpled white cloth. Behind the fruit, a greenish-blue pitcher with a handle and a white pattern stands on the table. The brushstrokes are loose and bright, with some colors blending into each other. The artist used thick, visible strokes to show light and shadow on the fruit, making them look almost three-dimensional. The colors pop against the muted background, drawing your eye right to the basket. If you like this style, look up impasto to see how artists use thick paint for texture.
