Lower Falls, Yosemite is a 1912 ink by Joseph Pennell, depicting Waterfall, held at Rosenwald Collection.
This lithograph shows the Lower Falls in Yosemite. The dark cliffs frame the water as it drops into misty spray. You can almost hear the roar. Pennell used stone to carve this print. That means the artist drew on limestone, then rolled ink over it. The paper picked up the image in reverse. It’s a slow, careful process.
