Untitled is a 1965 ink by Raymond Jonson, held at Museum of Modern Art.
This print shows two big shapes side by side. On the left, thick black lines fan out like a burst of energy, surrounded by a swirl of tiny dots. The right side has two dark rectangles with bright circles inside, each ringed by a burst of dots. The lines and dots create a sense of movement and light, even though there’s no clear picture. The texture looks like it was made by pressing ink onto stone. Check out lithography to see how this kind of print was made.
Raymond Jonson, was an American-born Modernist painter known for his paintings of the American Southwest.
