About this work

This painting looks chaotic but has a few clear shapes. On the left, there’s a twisted, skeletal figure with sharp angles and hollow eyes. Behind it, a red flag or cloth flutters. To the right, a bright orange line cuts through a messy background of small, blurry buildings and scattered marks. The brushstrokes are rough and layered, almost like scribbles. The colors are mostly muted—gray, brown, and white—except for the red and orange, which stand out. This style is called tempera, a paint made from pigment mixed with egg yolk.
