This painting is all black ink on white paper. You see two tall, lanky figures standing side by side, their arms stretched up like poles. Their faces are blurry, almost like smudges, and their bodies look stiff and angular. Behind them, a few smaller shapes—maybe birds or people—are scattered, but they’re hard to make out. The big figures feel a little off-kilter, like they’re leaning or falling. The ink is thick in some spots and thin in others, making the lines look uneven. It’s all just black and white, no colors at all. If you like this style, check out Willem de Kooning.
