This is Thérèse Schwartze, at age 16. Her father, Johan Georg Schwartze, painted her portrait. He was an established portrait painter in Amsterdam. But Thérèse would become a much more famous artist than her father. And so would many other women in her family. Her sister, niece, and great-nieces also became well-known artists.
