English watercolor artist Walter Field painted quiet, detailed scenes of everyday life in the mid-1800s. His 1866 sheet Boy in a cornfield shows a lone child among tall stalks, sunlight catching hats and shirts. Another sheet from the same year, Girl carrying a pitcher, captures a girl balancing a jug on her head.
