Johan Erik Lindh is an artist. 24 works are cataloged here, principally at Helsinki City Museum.

Johan Erik Lindh filled small sheets with soft pencil portraits of Finnish families in the early 1800s. His drawings show young daughters with their governesses, sons in coats, and mothers set against plain backgrounds, delicate lines and gentle shading mark each face. In Kirkkoherra Crohnsin perheen lapset hoitajansa kanssa you can almost feel the stiffness of the children’s Sunday clothes.

The next sketch to flip to is Emelie (Emma) Tamelander o.s. Crohns, where the same quiet style brings out her calm gaze.
