Giovanni Battista Gigola (1767 to 1841) was an Italian painter and miniaturist born in Brescia and counted among the leading figures of Italian Neoclassicism. After early training in his home city he attended the Accademia di Brera in Milan and spent the 1790s in Rome at the Accademia di San Luca, where he won a prize in composition. He exhibited at the Paris Salon in the early 1800s and entered the service of Eugene de Beauharnais, viceroy of Italy, painting his portrait.
Known especially for portrait miniatures on ivory and for work in enamel, he died at Tremezzo in 1841.
