Artist
Wang Wen
Wang Wen is a Ming dynasty painting artist. 2 works are cataloged here, principally at Art Institute of Chicago.
Wang Wen painted ink landscapes in 16th-century China. Two scrolls in this bundle show his hand: View from the Keyin Pavilion on Paradise Mountain (1562) and Song of a Fisherman (1536). Both trace misty ridges with delicate brush lines, a tradition older than Europe’s oil paintings.
Tap Song of a Fisherman to zoom in on the fisherman’s tiny figure floating on a vast river of ink.
