English artist Henry Shore painted views of historic places in watercolor around the late 1800s. One piece in this set is The Pyramids during the Nile Flood from about 1888, where the water touches the base of the ancient stones. Shore belonged to a tradition of British artists who traveled to Egypt to record its ruins and landscapes before cameras made the trip easy.
